What is a non-resident CCW permit?
It is a conceal carry permit from a state in which you do not reside.

Why would I need a non-resident CCW permit?
A non-resident CCW permit is needed if you intend to carry concealed while traveling through or visiting in a state that does not reciprocate with your resident CCW state.

Example: The OH CCW permit does not reciprocate with PA. Meaning PA does not recognize the OH CCW permit as a legal certificate to carry a concealed weapon. If an Ohio CCW permit holder wishes to carry concealed in PA, that resident needs a non-resident permit to carry legally in PA.

How do I get a non-resident CCW permit?
A good way to start is to obtain a Florida CCW and a Virginia CCW. Florida reciprocates with 28 states with the exception of West Virginia. By having both, most of the states are covered. UNFORTUNATLEY, AT THIS TIME, WEST VIRGINIA HAS DECIDED NOT TO HONOR NON-RESIDENT VIRGINIA CCW'S. THIS WEBSITE WILL ADVISE YOU IF AND WHEN THIS CHANGE IN POLICY IS REVERSED.

How do I qualify for a non-resident CCW permit?
To qualify for a Florida or Virginia CCW permit you will need the following:

- a copy of your Certification Course (If you completed a certification course in your resident state then a copy of that course certificate will be honored in Florida and Virginia)

Other items may also qualify as the certification course such as:

- other Firearm Training & Safety Courses

- active duty military, retired military and honorably discharges military personel (must show proper evidence of service)

- a set of double passport photos (These are usually 2" x 2")

- a completed and notarized application

- a set of fingerprints on the card provided from the state

Where can I obtain a Florida or Virginia CCW?
You can obtain a Florida or Virginia CCW permit at a gun show or by contacting one of the organizations shown below.

See the orgainizations shown below for more details about upcoming gun shows they will be attending and how to contact them about a Florida or Virginia CCW Permit.
